Pumping Station Projects
Orr Street Booster Pumping Station:
The Orr Street Booster Pumping Station was constructed to provide
adequate flow and pressure for the Five Corners Water Main Project
and the Five Spokes Water Main Project within the Town of Busti.
The pumping station was also designed to supply potential future
service areas within the Town of Busti Water District #7. The
pumping station was built on the City of Jamestown’s property in
Bergman Park, which required obtaining approval and meeting the
requirements of the City’s Park Department.
The pump station building contains three rooms, a chlorine injection
room, a standby power generator room, and a pump room. In the
pump room there are four variable speed constant pressure pumps; a
jockey pump, two service pumps, and a fire flow pump. The
jockey pump can supply between 6 and 39 gallons per minute and will
be used to supply low flow demands. Each service pump
can supply between 30 and 175 gallons per minute at the desired
discharge pressure. The fire flow pump was design to
meet ISO requirement for fire flow. The piping within the
booster station is designed so that the jockey pump can be easily
swapped with another service pump in the future as water demand
increases.
Howard Avenue Booster Pumping Station:
The Howard Avenue Booster Pumping Station was designed to increase
pressure to residential water users in the vicinity Howard Avenue
(Town of Ellicott) who were experiencing low pressure. The
pump station consists of four variable speed constant pressure
pumps; a jockey pump and three service pumps. The jockey pump
supplies the low to average day demand with the service pumps
supplying peak day to peak hour demand. The service pumps also
supply fire flow with all three pumps running. It should be
noted that the Howard Avenue Pump Station has been designed to
supply water and provide fire protection to potential future
expansion areas of the distribution system. The future areas
include; expansion/completion of the Royal Oaks Subdivision,
extension of the water main southerly on Howard Avenue to Baker
Street, installation of water main on Baker Street form Howard
Avenue to Valerie Lane, and installation of water main on Valerie
Lane. In addition to the pump station the project
consists of installing approximately 550 linear feet of eight-inch
(8”) diameter ductile iron water main and two check valve manholes.
Webster Road Pump Station:
Webster Road Pump Station was a rehabilitation project to upgrade
the existing pumping station and control valves for the adjacent
storage tank. The existing pumps were changed out for a
duplex constant pressure system with a design capacity of 3,200
gallons per minute. A new altitude valve and motor
operated butterfly valve were installed as well as communication
equipment, so the tank and pumping station could be controlled at
the municipality’s water treatment plant.
Hunt/Shadyside Underground Booster Pumping
Station:
The Hunt/Shadyside Underground Booster Pumping Station was installed
as part of water distribution project. The pumping station
consists of a welded steel chamber with four constant pressure pumps
and controls installed inside. The project also included
a standby power generator to maintain pump operations during primary
power outages.
