Water Sources
Crosswinds
Water Supply Well #4:
Crosswinds is a 49 lot development in the Town of Ellery, Chautauqua County,
New York. Water was being supplied to the development from three existing
wells, which were permitted by Tolman Engineering in 2003. The water
supply yield of Well #1 declined to a point that it could no longer sustain
a sufficient production rate. Therefore, we were retained to provide
service to develop and permit a new well (Well #4). Site limitations
prevented us from meeting standard well head protection radius requirements.
As such, we worked with Crosswinds, the well driller, NYSDEC, and the Department
of Health to install the new well at a location that was acceptable to all
parties.
Bemus Bay Condominium:
Tolman Engineering worked with the developer, well driller, Architect, Village
of Bemus Point, Department of Health, and NYSDEC to develop and permit a
groundwater supply for a highly scrutinized project on the shore of Chautauqua
Lake. The project included two 400-feet deep wells each with a radius
of protection of twenty-five feet. Due to the difficulty in permitting
and high public concern with potential impacts of the project, the developer
insisted that we be used for development and permitting of the water supply
based our good working relationship with the agencies and our history of
quality water supply projects.
Village
of Forestville Water Supply:
The Village of Forestville is experiencing problems with an inadequate water
supply and a deteriorating water system. The Village’s existing supply
consists of a number of springs and small production wells. Tolman
Engineering is currently working with the Village to develop an adequate
water supply and to upgrade/improve their existing water system. As
part of the process we are assisted the Village in obtaining grant funding
from Environmental Facilities Corporation consisting of $2.0 million grant
and $3.6 million zero interest loan and are currently designing the $5.6
million project.
Town of North Harmony Water Supply:
Tolman Engineering is currently working with the Town of North Harmony to
develop a water supply source for Bootey’s Bay Doubletree Resort and a good
portion of the Town. The project involves working with the developer
of the resort, Town of North Harmony, Chautauqua County IDA, Department
of Health, and NYSDEC. Presently, well exploration is under way to
determine whether a groundwater source is viable. A total of three
potential sources, groundwater, surface water, or Jamestown BPU, are being
considered for supply.
Town of Carroll
Tolman Engineering is currently working with the Town of Carroll (Frewsburg
Water District) to develop a new well supply for the town. Based on our
investigation of potential well locations a very promising source was
immediately located after numerous unfruitful previous well
explorations.
Village of Randolph
Tolman Engineering is currently working with the Village to investigate current sources and locate potential new well sources. A joint evaluation with the Village of East Randolph is currently being evaluated.
